How to Harness the power of Social Media

In today’s post I will be talking about how you can use social media effectively to create brand awareness and to drive a large amount of traffic also termed as “Referral Traffic” in SEO world. I know you might know some of the tactics that I am going to discussing today. But I would like to mention here that this post is for newbie’s and experienced SEO gurus.
First of all I will start with Facebook the very popular social media platform ever who has gained success in a very short span of time. All of you might be having a facebook account. You use it for personal use like connecting to the people whom you know or who are living around you and would like to become friends with you. You share your personal updates, photos and memorable moments on your wall which appear in the news feed of your friends. The power of facebook lies in this, your update is being viewed by your friends who are in your list. Now suppose, for example I would say that your facebook profile has about 200 friends. Now when you do an update this update is published in the news feed of all those 200 friends. Now if they like and comment on your update that update goes viral. It will appear in the news feed of their friends as well. If they like it they will share it. Sharing is a good option given by Facebook. The more the number of shares the more the virility of your post will be. Now let’s take these things to the Facebook business page.
Facebook Business Pages are best way to create brand awareness. First of all you need to build a good Facebook business page. Profile picture and cover picture are the most important factors which will help you in improving your facebook likes because whenever you see a post on Facebook page and hover over it, it’s the profile & cover picture that is visible at the first glance. If they have the potential to attract the visitor he will visit your page and may even like it. So keep in mind choose or create an appropriate profile picture and cover page.
After these things are done the updates are the ones which are going to give you your visitors who in turn will become your future customers. Updates must be done on a regular basis. Now you should prepare some strategy. First of all make a note of what your competitors are doing to get likes and increasing the engagement of their Facebook pages. You should involve those points in your strategies as well. But keep in mind people always like to see something new so try to do something which is different and engaging. This strategy will be different for different pages.
First of all make a note of all the people or visitors who will show interest in your page. Target the age group, the gender. The geographical region from where you want your customers or visitors to be and make a note of the things that they will find exciting and will compel them to visit your page.
After you have done all these things you can share those updates in different groups related to your business. For a change you can try sharing your updates in groups which doesn't belong to your niche. It is just for an experimental purpose if it works its good for you, if it doesn't then you stop sharing the updates on those groups because the moderators might ban you from the group.   Tagging of images should be done rarely because what I have experienced is people don't like tagging themselves in images. The reason is they get a lot of notifications which is annoying at times. So always ask your friends before tagging them, otherwise they might dislike your page just because of your tagging activity.
Maintaining the "people talking about" of your page
This is the most difficult task which I have faced while handling social media campaigns. Increasing the number of likes on your facebook page will not earn your profit or will give you a good return on investment. It is the "people talking about" which matters the most.   Over the years I have noticed that whenever there is a steep decrease in "people talking about" on your page. You should do some interactive activity on your page. Such as start a contest on your page. Facebook offers are a good way to increase the talking about of your page. Use a third party app which you can integrate very easily on your facebook page and will give you a detailed report on the number of likes increased while the contest was live. The region from where the entries came from and the most important is how did they came to know about your facebook contest.
I guess if you follow these tips for your Facebook page you should be able to get a good engagement ratio.

Pinterest

This site has evolved a lot after people starting realizing how it can be effective in gaining traffic and backlinks. Earlier people used to pin their favorite images just for fun and entertainment. Nowadays pinterest has developed into a good platform for social media.  The marketing technique works like this when you pin an image on your board. You can give a description along with your site URL in it. You can also add a website to your own pinterest profile. Suppose a visitor likes one of your images he will visit your profile to see your boards. If he finds those boards interesting he will visit your website to see what do you do what services do you provide and much more.  If you verify your pinterest profile after adding a website to it, you can get access to analytics which will help you in measuring your marketing goals on pinterest.  Tip of advice for all the marketers on pinterest is that, don't just keep on pinning your images on the board. Take out some time and like what others are pinning. Add a comment to their pins.  What this does is that they will also like your pin and re-pin it on their boards. It helps in establishing a relationship with  your followers. Also it increases the virility of your pins.
Twitter

Twitter doesn't need any introduction, as most of you must be using it on a daily basis. But I would like to pin-point some of the marketing techniques that you can use in your twitter account to achieve brand awareness and traffic to your site.   Hash tags are very useful tool twitter has given for marketers. When you write some word with a hash tag it becomes a link. So if you want your tweet to show for that particular word simply put a hash tag before that word and tweet it.  Now when anyone searches for that words all the tweets with that hash tag will show up in the results. Which will include even your tweet which has that hash tag in it. So just a single word with a hash tag before you can earn you your potential customer.
Also I would like to mention the use of link shortener's because you are limited only to 140 characters. They shorten your URL so that you get more characters to give your message to your followers.
